- Employing lithostratigraphic and biostratigraphic techniques to interpret the reservoir characteristics.
- Applying principles of Micropaleontology to identify paraconformities to improve drilling efficiency for petroleum exploration.
- Evaluating structural trends of sedimentary rocks in the development of oil and gas.
- Recognizing various styles of deposition of sedimentary rock strata within different basins of deposition by using basin analysis techniques to interpret hydrocarbon potential.
- Evaluating different formation tops and different lithologies from geological data.
- Locating the porosity zones within rock formations by correlating different geophysical logs: electric logs, resistivity logs, induction logs, sp logs, neutron logs, density logs and gamma ray logs for the hydrocarbon potential.
